Last updated: August 7, 2026

1. Introduction

Odd News ("we," "us," "our," or "Company") operates the Odd News website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our site.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as when you submit articles, create an account, or contact us. We also automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with our site.

3. Accounts

Odd News offers two types of accounts, and the information we collect depends on which you create:

  • Reader ("Oddball") accounts. When you create a reader account, we collect your email address and, optionally, a display name and the topics you tell us you're interested in. We also store the articles you bookmark and the authors you follow so we can sync them across your devices.
  • Creator accounts. If you sign up as a creator, we additionally collect the profile information you provide (such as your name, author bio, profile image, and any social or contact links) along with the articles, pitches, and other content you submit to us for review and publication.

You can review and update your account information at any time from your profile page.

4. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We keep your personal information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services, and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings, or by contacting us. When you delete your account:

  • We delete your profile information, along with your bookmarks, followed authors, and saved interests.
  • We stop using your personal information to personalize your experience or send you account-related communications.
  • Content that a creator submitted and that we have already published may remain publicly available as part of our editorial archive. On request, we will remove or anonymize the author attribution associated with that content where reasonably possible.

We may retain a limited amount of information after deletion where required by law, or where it is contained in backups, aggregated analytics that no longer identify you, or records we are legally required to keep. Such information is not used to actively identify or contact you.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve our services, process transactions, and send you updates about our content and services.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access and alteration.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, including the right to delete your account as described above. Please contact us to exercise these rights.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page.
