Disclaimer: This article is based on actual news from the real world – honestly! However, it has been sprinkled with a healthy dose of satire.
If you commute to work every day, you’re pretty much on autopilot from the second you walk out the door until the time you sit down at your desk (and maybe afterwards, but that’s a different story for HR to tell you). One thing that might shock you out of your stupor could be an animal. Another would be a kid in a diaper. But what about a sheep in a diaper? On a passenger train? Just wandering around? This happened on a high-speed passenger train, and public transportation may never be the same.
We're not sure why anyone complained about how the sheep was treated. He looks Pampered. (Facebook/Mariusz Krystian)
This all took place in Poland, on the PKP Intercity train on the Pendolino line between Krakow and Warsaw. It was noted by probably everyone on board, but most notably by a politician, Mariusz Krystian, a member of parliament for the conservative Law and Justice Party. As you might imagine, a conservative parliament member would probably be thrilled to have an animal on a train with him, right? Nope! He was outraged, perhaps because he thought that only he should be allowed to roam around a train wearing nothing but a diaper.
“I am currently on a train to Warsaw,” he vented on Facebook. “And I wonder, is this still a passenger train, or a cattle car?” He then claimed that the sheep was terrified to be on the train. “Many of you wrote that the animal was taken care of,” he fumed in a second post. “Nonsense! It was scared and stressed out. This is what ‘modern’ animal abuse looks like.” To be clear, in the follow-up video he posted, the sheep seems at least a little bit anxious to get off the train, which is the same thing many feel when too close to a politician.
That being said, no laws were broken! PKP Intercity states that passengers are allowed to transport live animals in passenger compartments as long as they’re wearing a diaper. We’re presuming they’re talking about the animals, not their owners, but it really Depends.
The sheep was a lot more relaxed than his parliamentary counterpart. “Of course, I was going to Warsaw, I’ve got business to do,” he explained to Odd News. “You’ve gotta stand apart from the herd, so I had to get the flock out of my hometown to get things done. It’s a real wool market out there.” When asked to clarify if he meant “bull market,” he abruptly ended the interview because he saw a German Shepherd, also wearing a diaper, enter the train car.
This story is based on fully factual news, but if we got it wrong, blame these guys, we’re just here to make it funny.
