A boy in Ohio recently got stuck in one of those arcade Claw Machine things, in an act that might seem ridiculous to adults, but actually makes a ton of sense to a child. After all, if you’re not supposed to go in there and get a toy, why is there a child-sized door at ground level?

“I figured, since there are cool toys in there, I should be able to go inside to get them,” the logical child explained to a group of adults, smirking condescendingly. “What kind of cruel society would trick me, and not let me just go inside for the toys?”

“Now that I think about it,” said a game designer, “setting a trap to capture a child would’ve been designed very similarly to that machine.” The bemused man continued, “After all, there’s a mountain of toys and stuffed animals sitting there, and a child’s willpower can only withstand so much. This young genius has opened my eyes and made me rethink my profession.”

Once the youthful hero became stuck, the machine had to be rolled away from that part of the community center before efforts began to extricate the boy, who was not injured from the ordeal. “We took him to the Child Extraction Wing of the building,” said an official. “The wing was built specifically for these incidents, which fortunately don’t happen too often, only five or six times per day.”

“We considered getting rid of the machine, because of all the stuck children,” said the official, “or replacing it with one that is less easy for children to get trapped in, but that seemed like a lot of work. So instead, we just built an entire new section of the building dedicated to rescuing logical, reasonable children.”

Police and EMS were able to take apart some of the machine, to free the boy and rejoin him with his mother. The child was able to keep a stuffed animal, along with the unpleasant memory. “I thought it was suspicious that the center had an area called the Child Extraction Wing, but I thought nah, it’s probably fine. If there’s one lesson I can impart to other parents, it’s that you shouldn’t bring your kids to a place with a full area devoted to child rescues.”
