Amber Luke has over 600 tattoos covering 98% of her body, but she didn’t let running out of skin stop her from getting two more. The ink enthusiast tattooed the entirety of her eyeballs, twice.
Luke, who calls herself Blue Eyes White Dragon (sick nickname), rose to internet “fame” on Instagram due to her prolific body art and raunchy photo dumps. She gained further notoriety by tattooing the whites of her eyes an ultra-bright ocean blue.
Attempting this shocking look was not without its pitfalls, however. Luke revealed the bonkers behind-the-scenes details of her insane eye-tattoo journey in a recent interview.
When she initially got her peepers tattooed at the tender age of 22, the excruciatingly painful process left her completely blind in both eyes for three weeks. She even cried blue tears, which, despite sounding like the title of a really good country song, was reportedly painful as hell.
“It was the most intense, brutal pain of my life. I honestly felt like … 10 shards of glass (had been rubbed) in my eye, for three weeks.”
-Amber Luke, Tattoo Enthusiast/ Excellent Decision Maker
Shortly after the first surgery, Luke, who’s been doing body modifications since the age of 14, publicly claimed she regretted the risky ocular procedure that took her eyesight and her independence for nearly a month.
Five years later, she’s completely changed her tune. Ole Blue Eyes White Dragon revealed that she recently had her eyes re-inked in Brazil. Wow, time really does heal all wounds; either that or the Blue Dye Number 4 has seeped directly into the decision-making part of her brain.
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's a huge mistake! (amberluke666/Instagram)
The eyeball tattooing process is not for the squeamish. It involves a one-millimeter syringe being injected into “two pinpoints” directly into the eyeball. For both eyes. That’s four injections. I’m getting queasy just thinking about it.
Thankfully for Luke, her second round was pain-free and she had zero complications. “If it’s done correctly, you feel no pain whatsoever,” she said.
And hey, if they screw up, no big whoop; it’s only YOUR VISION!
Despite the excruciating pain and total mind f**k of losing her sight, Australia’s most tattooed woman says her eye tattoos were totally worth all of the pain and suffering. She recommends this risky procedure to anyone who loves looking cool but hates getting called back for a second round of job interviews.
After hearing Amber’s harrowing tale, would you risk your eyesight to change your eye color?

Whatever your stance is on extreme body art, I think we can all agree that having the sense of sight pretty much rules, so be careful out there, folks. Maybe steer clear of places like “Rusty Sue’s Discount Eye Tattoo Emporium: Where Every Tattoo Comes with a Free Tetanus Shot,” even if they do offer some damn good deals.
