- The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is investigating claims that some male ski jumpers may be injecting substances such as hyaluronic acid into their penises to temporarily alter body measurements during equipment checks.
- The alleged goal is to influence ski-jumping suit measurements, which are tightly regulated because slightly looser suits can improve aerodynamics and increase jump distance.
- The investigation follows earlier controversies in the sport, including recent suspensions involving manipulated suit seams, adding to ongoing concerns about equipment-based cheating as opposed to ‘traditional’ drug use.
- While no evidence has yet confirmed that such injections are actually happening, WADA officials say the claims raise serious ethical, medical, and regulatory questions and warrant examination.
